Initially created to meet the automation and metrology needs of high-tech industries (aeronautics, military, etc.), CERSA MCI quickly expanded its activities to continuous production industries (steel, plastic, wire, cable, etc.) with high-performance, contactless optical technology.The demand for faster production and smaller dimensions, zero defects and material savings, have led us to develop high-performance metrology techniques for very high frequency full in-line quality certification.

Fine wire specialist
As early as 1986, we developed the first Laser Diffraction Sensor (LDS) for the in-line measurement of fine wire diameters. These instruments, appreciated worldwide both in production and in the laboratory, are still an international reference and one of CERSA's flagship products.
In-line measuring instruments to fully certify optical fiber
In the early 1990's, in close cooperation with optical fiber producers, CERSA developed the first Laser Interferometric Sensor for glass fiber (LIS-Glass). The great success of this instrument motivated us to develop other complementary devices : the Non-Contact Tension Measurement (NCTM) and then the 5-axis Coating Measurement (CM5) instruments.
This line of instruments, associated with our CIM software (CERSA Instrument Manager) for the acquisition, display and recording of measurements, is now used worldwide by the major producers of optical telecommunication fibers, which makes CERSA a world leader in this field. Always imitated, never matched!
BI group holding company
In 2011, CERSA became part of the “Bellepeire Invest” BI group holding company. The baseline shareholders decided to combine the key activities of three companies: ReneR (Renewable Energy Resources), Pont du Pâtre (organic agriculture) and CERSA-MCI (automation and measurement engineering).
Company moves to new premises
In May 2016, to support our significant growth, BI group moved to a brand new facility specially designed for us.

What's next ?
The extrusion and wire drawing industries have been asking us for a long time for instruments that better meet their quality control requirements. Extruded tubes, even multilayer tubes, which must be measured with precision (material cost) and speed (zero defects) require high-performance instruments.
Our new SQM-F instrument for the detection of surface defects on fine wires, plating defects (gold, silver, nickel, etc.) are opening up new perspectives and new markets for CERSA in the coming years.
2024 will also see the release of an offline version called the WIRE360 for detecting defects in samples of medical wires and tubes...
